Shaping the future together.
A family-friendly museum to explore, listen, feel and participate. Discover the musical works of theatre personality Carl Orff. Get involved at the interactive stations throughout the museum. How did Carl Orff live? His home and studio offer insights into the composer's private life.
The Carl Orff Foundation welcomes you to the estate of composer Carl Orff! In the Carl Orff Museum, you can learn about the diversity of his artistic work and the educational ideas behind the world-famous Orff Schulwerk. The foundation is opening up the composer's home and studio, with its spacious grounds, sweeping views of Lake Ammersee and the mountains, to the public with the new museum. The listed property is intended to be a place for relaxation, communication and music-making.
In the new COMU building, you will embark on a journey through a life full of rhythm, music, language and dance.
Language and rhythm belong together just as much as music and dance – all of this is combined in the work of composer Carl Orff. Discover his stage works full of rhythm. And above all: try it for yourself! At COMU, you can drum, play with rhythms and give free rein to your creativity.
You can experience culture, art, music and movement with your children at COMU. We make music a playful experience at our interactive stations and in the Klang.Spiel.Raum (sound play room). COMU is a museum for the whole family, where young and old, big and small can enjoy playing together. Our goblin Goggolori provides entertainment with a rally through the museum and the life and work of Carl Orff.
We offer special programmes and workshops for children, families and birthday parties. Information about our offers will be available here on the homepage from the beginning of 2025.
Music and movement are often neglected in everyday school life, as the strict curriculum leaves little time to encourage creativity in children and young people. COMU is an ideal destination for a hiking day or school trip. Even the picturesque route from the train station to the Ziegelstadel offers opportunities for exercise and exploring nature. At COMU, we offer special programmes for school classes of all ages. From rhythm games and body percussion to a theatre workshop, we are happy to put together a programme for you.
Information will be available here on the homepage from the beginning of 2025, or before that at: info@co-mu.de
We offer entertaining guided tours in our largely barrier-free museum. Learn about an exciting artistic life that spanned the imperial era, the Weimar Republic, National Socialism, the post-war period and the 1980s. We will familiarise you with Orff's works and reveal the secret of the Orff Schulwerk.
The extensive park and our museum café offer peace and relaxation – even without a visit to the museum. We offer special programmes and workshops for seniors, small groups and birthdays. Information about our offers will be available here on the homepage from the beginning of 2025.
Everyone is welcome in our largely barrier-free museum! Discover the exhibition with a guided tour or on your own. Simple rhythms, body-oriented instruments and great joy – these aspects of the Orff Schulwerk characterise our inclusive workshops and museum programmes. On our Inclusion Day, you can book the museum exclusively for your group for workshops and rhythm games.
